JRDA is pleased to announce Barney Trubble as the first ever JRDA European Regional Coordinator!

Phil Rutter (Barney Trubble)

Phil is an ex-pat Englishman living in Denmark. He first became aware of Roller Derby when he saw the film ‘Whip It’ with his then 8-year old daughter. They found out that Copenhagen had a team and they became committed fans. A year later, Phil became an NSO, and soon approached the league about starting a junior team. The Copenhagen Troublemakers were born.

There were just 2 skaters at the very first training, but 4 years later the Troublemakers are now 25 members strong, including a full level 3 roster, and have had one skater that has aged up and is a regular on Copenhagen’s B-team. Phil was also on the organising committee of CAT, the first all Junior Roller Derby tournament in Europe where 128 junior skaters came for three days of games and bootcamps.

As an official, Phil is closing in on 300 games and will be a Crew Head at the Roller Derby World Cup in Manchester, England next year.

Phil’s hope as Regional Coordinator for Europe is to capitalise on the momentum that is growing throughout the continent so that European Junior Roller Derby can continue to grow and to thrive, and to introduce all the talented and amazing skaters there to the rest of the world.
