The Junior Roller Derby Association has released an updated JRDA Addenda to The Rules of Flat Track Roller Derby and an updated JRDA Code of Conduct.

For the first time, The Rules of Flat Track Roller Derby - officially licensed by WFTDA – have been combined with the JRDA Addenda into one document, The Rules of Flat Track Roller Derby, JRDA Edition.

Updated JRDA Skill Level Assessments are now available.  JRDA Member Leagues may request copies from rules@juniorrollerderby.org.

These updates:

  • Align the JRDA Addenda with the format of The Rules and the new WFTDA verbal cues and hand signals.
  • Introduce JRDA specific Casebook entries, and modify select Cases for JRDA play.
  • Do *not* change gameplay, but do
    • Clarify permitted and penalty worthy actions in Skill Level 1 and Skill Level 2 gameplay.
    • Move “Hitting” penalties into the Illegal Contact section of The Rules, eliminating the need for the “T” penalty code for JRDA play. (“Hitting” remains a standardized verbal cue.)
    • Expand the Code of Conduct to include some modifications to sections previously removed out of The Rules and into various policy documents.

JRDA Leagues may begin adopting these new documents and policies for Sanctioned and Regulation play beginning March 1, 2018, and are encouraged to do so.  At the Head Referee's sole discretion, games played during the month of March may be played under the previous Rules, but all JRDA Sanctioned and Regulation play are required to use the updated Rules no later than April 1, 2018.

These documents are all available on the Rules & Officials page of the JRDA web site at http://www.juniorrollerderby.org/page/show/2944856-rules-and-officials

Additionally, the JRDA Charter Policy has been updated.  Effective March 1, 2018 teams may now include 15 skaters on a game roster (there is no option to delay implementation of this change.)
