our child wants to play roller derby? We couldn't think of a better sport for young women and men to play. Junior roller derby is a fantastic sport that builds strong athletes, both mentally and physically.

So, how do we start? Many cities already have a junior roller derby league. It may be an extension of an adult league or it may be independently run. If you don't have a roller derby league in your area, drop us a line at JRDA and we can walk you through the process. You've already taken the first step by coming to our website.

If you're looking for good trainers for your novice league, there are many active and retired roller derby athletes that are looking to build the future of roller derby. WFTDA and MRDA have a large number of skaters that are looking for that challenge.

roper gear is required to be on the track as a junior roller derby skater. The following list will help you get prepared for your first practice. You will need:

  • Quad Skates - we use quad skates NOT inline skates or roller blades.
  • Helmet - a proper fitting helmet.
  • Mouth Guards - to protect you against concussion, and mouth injuries
  • Knee Pads - They too, should fit snug on your knees.
  • Elbow Pads - Snuggly fitting as well
