Games Department Committees

 

Games Department Committee Chairs

Committee chairs report directly to the JRDA Games Department Chair and are responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operations of the Games Department. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide regular committee status reports to the JRDA Games Department Chair

  • Oversee Committee schedule and workflow to ensure sufficient coverage and time off for committee members; assist with submission processing where needed; ensure all communications with JRDA membership / leadership are addressed in a timely manner

  • Verify compliance of JRDA members with all committee-specific policies and deadlines – report noncompliance to the JRDA Games Department Chair

  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training of all incoming committee members

Committee Chair candidates have:

  • Flexible availability; able to handle time sensitive and unexpected situations

  • Mastery of Google Apps (especially Sheets, Docs, Forms, Drive, Gmail)

  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively

  • Compliance with all JRDA Volunteer Requirements

Prefered/Stand-out Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and understanding of JRDA Games-related policies (especially the Sanctioning Policy)

  • Advanced Google Sheets formulas knowledge

  • 6+ months experience as a member of a Games Department Committee

Time Commitment: 1-10+ hours per week depending on work volume and seasonal demand

Charters & Sanctioning Committee

The Charters & Sanctioning Committee is responsible for processing all Charter and Sanctioning Request submissions. The majority of the Charters Subcommittee workload is distributed to the off-season (September through December), when leagues are expected to submit their initial charters for the upcoming season. The work of the Sanctioning Subcommittee is done during the regular season (January through May). Thus, members of this committee are trained in both Charter and Sanctioning Request processing procedures. 

Committee candidates have:

  • Proficiency with Google Apps (especially sheets)

  • Flexible availability to complete short (< 30 mins) time-sensitive tasks 

  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively 

  • Compliance with all JRDA Volunteer Requirements

Time Commitment: 1-5 hrs per week depending on submission volume

 

Charters Subcommittee

Responsibilities:

  • Process all charter submissions (initial and updated charters)

  • Communicate player registration issues to the HR Department 

  • Flag and communicate charter requirement compliance issues to the Committee Chair 

  • Publish active charters to the JRDA website in the appropriate locations

  • Communicate with JRDA members when additional information / context is needed

  • Respond to all communications from JRDA members (or refer them to the Committee Chair) in a timely manner

 

Sanctioning Subcommittee

Responsibilities:

  • Process all sanctioning request submissions 

  • Flag and communicate sanctioning requirement compliance issues to the Committee Chair 

  • Communicate with JRDA members when additional information / context is needed

  • Respond to all communications from JRDA members (or refer them to the Committee Chair) in a timely manner

 

Statistics Committee

The Stats Committee is responsible for processing all post-game stats submissions. 

Responsibilities:

  • Process all Score/IGRF submissions within 48 hours of receipt 

  • Process all Statsbook submissions

  • Complete and disseminate feedback rubrics for Statsbooks with identified errors 

  • Ensure JRDA member compliance with the JRDA Sanctioning Policy with respect to stats submissions, completeness, and deadlines

  • Flag and communicate policy violations to the Committee Chair

  • Communicate with JRDA members when additional information / context is needed

  • Respond to all communications from JRDA members (or refer them to the Committee Chair) in a timely manner

Committee candidates have:

  • Proficiency with Google Apps (especially sheets)

  • Flexible availability to complete time-sensitive tasks 

  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and problem solving, skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively 

  • Compliance with all JRDA Volunteer Requirements

Prefered/Stand-out Qualifications:

  • Concrete knowledge and understanding of the JRDA Sanctioning Policy

  • Open availability

  • 1+ year of experience as a Non-Skating Official with strong knowledge of stats notation conventions and post-game data entry procedures 

Time Commitment: 2-8 hrs per week depending on submission volume

 

Games Support Committee

The Games Support Committee is a specialized committee responsible for assisting the Games Department Chair with long-term projects and tasks that require certain types of expertise or specialized skill set. This committee is chaired and managed by the Games Department Chair. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Games Department Chair with various tasks and projects

Examples: supplemental resource creation; video tutorials; internal system improvements; policy language creation / revision; etc. 

Committee candidates have:

  • Expertise or specialized skill set

Examples: advanced google sheets formulas, coding, website editing, policy language writing, officiating, video editing

 

Time Commitment: 0-5 hrs per week depending on task assignment(s). 

**Good for candidates who do not have open / flexible schedules.

 

Archives Committee

The Archives Committee is responsible for curating and maintaining the Games Department Committee archives in the Shared Google Drive. 

Responsibilities:

  • Organize files within the Games Department shared Google Drive into appropriate folders by month and year

  • Rename files submitted using incorrect file naming conventions

Committee candidates have:

  • Working knowledge of Google Apps

  • Proficiency with Google Drive

 

Time Commitment: 0-1 hr per week; work at your own pace.
