Executive Board of Directors Position Descriptions

(all three-year terms)

 

President-
The President is an Executive Board position with a three-year term. Duties include overseeing the Board Of Directors and the organization. The President provides oversight on all administrative and corporate matters and reviews, understands, and evaluates the association's Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, and governing rules and regulations. The President focuses on the association's mission and growth, and the well-being of its participants. The President regularly meets with the Board of Directors and all Department Chairs, leads the monthly association meetings, and represents the association in communications with other organizations.
 

Time Commitment 10+ Hours a week.

Senior Vice President -
The Senior Vice President (SVP) is an Executive Board position with a three-year term. The SVP oversees three departments: Rules, Games, and Safety, regularly meeting with each and discussing their operations at the monthly association meetings. The SVP develops and enforces policies to ensure these departments maintain the association’s mission and meet established goals. The SVP works closely with the Events Department to manage postseason play. The SVP is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all competition-related data for the organization and the oversight of the accompanying administrative tasks related to these departments. The SVP works to support and fulfills the duties of that role in the President's absence. 
 
Time commitment: 5-10 hours per week
 
Vice President -
The Vice President (VP) is an Executive Board position with a three-year term. The VP oversees the Membership Department and the Regional Coordinators, regularly meeting with each and discussing their operations at monthly association meetings.  The VP assists the President and Regional Coordinator Representative with communication to the association's membership and is responsible for day-to-day operations and activities associated with the membership services offered by the organization. Additionally, the VP oversees volunteer recruitment and retention. The VP is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all membership-related data for the organization and the oversight of the accompanying administrative tasks related to the department.
 
Time commitment: 5-10 hours per week
 
Secretary -
The Secretary is an Executive Board position with a three-year term, overseeing the Media Department. The Secretary is responsible for organizing and safekeeping significant organizational documents (generally electronically, using Google Drive and other cloud-based systems).  The Secretary also supervises elections, the voting process, and the related data maintenance for all elected positions.  Additionally, the Secretary oversees technology, and is responsible for the website (content, design, and functionality), organization email and network services, SportsEngine functionality, etc. The Secretary coordinates all board and leadership meetings (distributing agendas, recording minutes, etc.) and maintains records of committee meetings for various JRDA departments. 
 
Time commitment: 5-10 hours per week.
 
Treasurer -
The Treasurer is an Executive Board position with a three-year term, overseeing the Events and Finance Departments.  The Treasurer serves as the chief financial officer of the Association and is responsible for the care, custody, and safekeeping of the corporation's funds. The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining the association's financial books and records of account. The Treasurer provides timely reports of income and expenses for events to the board and quarterly financial statements to the board in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for Nonprofits, and attends monthly association meetings.  The Treasurer prepares annual budgets and events budgets for the board's review and assists with strategic planning and aligning of the Association's resources, financial or otherwise.
