MEDIA CREDENTIALS

JRDA Media Department

For an and all media related question contact the JRDA Media Department.

Trackside Media Credentials

JRDA will issue media credentials at its sole discretion, selecting the media outlets it believes are best positioned to provide media coverage of any given event, with a preference toward staff reporters/photographers and/or freelance journalists/photographers on assignment to cover the event for an established print or broadcast media outlet. If you are a staff reporter or a freelance journalist on assignment, you must provide written verification (from the media outlet) of the assignment to cover the event. JRDA will give preference to, in descending order:
  1. Sports-focused media outlets (Sports Illustrated, ESPN, etc.)
  2. Wire services (AP, AFP, Reuters, etc.)
  3. Media outlets with a large daily circulation and/or large national audience
  4. Established roller derby specialty media
  5. Local media in the host city
  6. Established internet sites
  7. Other media on a case-by-case basis, at JRDA's sole discretion

Non-press commercial, private-party, or freelance photographers (still or video) not currently on assignment (shooting stock, for example) may also be granted complimentary track-side media access to JRDA events in exchange for non-exclusive rights to up to ten (10) still images images from the event, or up to 15 minutes of audio and/or video, to be selected by the JRDA, for use in any medium. The JRDA retains the right to purchase rights to additional images, audio, video, or other media by separate agreement.

All other photographers wishing access to JRDA events must purchase a media pass. Such passes permit the bearer to use professional-grade photographic and/or video equipment at the event, subject to the equipment restrictions herein, in all spectator areas. Photographers purchasing a media pass retain all rights to images created.

EQUIPMENT RESTRICTIONS

For safety reasons, no tripods or other large stands are permitted track-side. Monopods or other mobile stabilizers may be used. No equipment (to include the photographer) may occupy more floor space than a square 2.5 feet per side. Flashes, remote or attached, may be used, subject to the head official's discretion at each game. Remote flashes must be securely mounted well outside of the track safety lane and spectator traffic lanes.
