Requirements For US Member Leagues

Each league, in order to be in good standing, must have:

  • A completed League Membership Registration Form including the payment of the membership registration dues (payment processed at time of registration).
  • A completed List of Volunteers. For the 2022-2023 season, this is part of the membership registration form.  The list must include the legal names and individual email addresses of:
    • two league admins,
    • all league coaches,
    • a skating and non-skating officials contact,
    • league associated skating and non-skating officials,
    • a charters and sanctions contact,
    • your four Member Congress representatives--a parent, a skater, and two more adults (your skater representative must have email access to ensure representation on the member congress forum); and
    • your JRDA Committee Volunteer--for a list of current volunteer committee opportunities with the JRDA, click HERE
  • Proof of an insurance policy that provides accidental coverage for league members and general liability insurance for the league. For more information on  Athos coverage that is discounted to member leagues click HERE
    • Leagues with a lapse in coverage of greater than 60 days will have their league pages disabled on the JRDA website.

    • Sanctioning requests will be denied for any game scheduled during a lapse in coverage.

If any of these requirements are not met at any given time during the membership year (9/1/xx to 8/31/xx) the league will be notified it is not in compliance and benefits may be temporarily unavailable.

Requirements For Volunteers (US Member Leagues)

League volunteers (administrators, coaches, officials, etc.) whose information has been provided on the Leagues List of Volunteers must also register individually.

Individual Registration Requirements for Volunteers:

  • A completed background screening (must be renewed every 2 years) for each volunteer
  • A Certificate of Completion from the CDC Heads Up concussion training course (must be renewed every 2 years) for each volunteer. The concussion training is a free service provided by the CDC.
  • Leagues must have at least two registered volunteers that have completed the APS Safe Sport training and certification course. (must be renewed every 2 years) More information about the Safe Sport Act can be found at (115th / S.534).

Please make sure your returning volunteers know that their registrations are good for two years.

Background checks and Safe Sport training are ordered through SportsEngine via our registration forms.  Background checks are $20.50 and Safe Sport training is $5. They may be ordered as a bundle to reduce registration processing.  These are fees charged by outside organizations (the JRDA does not participate in the revenue or fees for these services).

Requirements for Skaters (US Member Leagues)

Each skater that is to be placed onto a team charter for a league must complete player registration.  Access the registration form HERE.

Benefits and Requirements for International Federation Leagues

The JRDA offers international junior roller derby leagues a federation affiliation ($25USD). This affiliation links your league to all other JRDA member and internationally federated leagues.

Your league must be registered first with your home country national organization and then may register here for international affiliation benefits which include:

  • FREE League page that links to your social media pages.
  • FREE listing on the JRDA Map.

  • Access to JRDA rules and skills assessments, code of conduct, and other important documents
  • Sanctioned game play with JRDA US leagues.
